team catford

Team Catford on behalf of Lewisham Council is supporting the Council’s appointed architect team - Studio Egret West and Carl Turner Architects - with engagement on the framework plan.

Team Catford specialises in engagement, placemaking and meanwhile use. We all live in the borough, mostly Catford, and we continue to engage with the local community on behalf of Lewisham Council.

Over the last couple of years, hundreds of hours have been dedicated to community engagement at local assembly meetings, community groups meetings and local activities gathering feedback and discussing the future of the town centre. Team Catford has held over 50 engagement events with over 700 hours of face-to-face stakeholder engagement. Through the pop-up engagement space, Catford Cornucopia, they have spent every weekend for the past eight months talking to members of the public about town centre issues and the forthcoming masterplan.

All of the 1,800 comments shared to date have been considered by the architect team and these insights are reflected in the draft masterplan framework.

Strengthening the community spirit and celebrating everything that is great about Catford is something we’re particularly passionate about. We run the monthly Catford Food Market, Catford Cornucopia – a pop-up shop stocking Catford merchandise and locally produced crafts and goodies, free cinema screenings, children’s arts and craft activities, Young & Vocal – an evening of music and performance for young people; the Catford Beer Festival, the Catford Gin Festival; as well as supporting the local street art project, Catford Arts Trail and the Catford Free Film Festival.

We live here so we share the community’s passion for positive change. We’re also leading a programme of meanwhile use to ensure we make the most of vacant spaces as the long-term process of regeneration takes place. We supported Supersets in securing a new home for their set-building business on Thomas Lane; we helped Really Local Group imagine the possibilities for Catford Mews, a three-screen cinema; and we’re in discussion with some other exciting tenants for units in and around the Catford Shopping Centre.
