Team Catford is a team specialising in engagement, placemaking and meanwhile use. We all live in the borough, mostly Catford, and we're leading major community engagement on behalf of Lewisham Council.
We are here to listen to your ideas, make sure your views are heard and answer any questions about the masterplan. Over the last couple of years, we have dedicated hundreds of hours to community engagement through our own events and by attending local assembly meetings, joining community groups and local activities gathering feedback and discussing the future of the town centre.
Strengthening the community spirit and celebrating everything that is great about Catford is something we’re particularly passionate about. We run the monthly Catford Food Market, Catford Cornucopia – a pop-up shop stocking Catford merchandise and locally produced crafts and goodies, free cinema screenings, children’s arts and craft activities, Young & Vocal – an evening of music and performance for young people; the Catford Beer Festival, the Catford Gin Festival; as well as supporting the local street art project, Catford Arts Trail and the Catford Free Film Festival.
We live here so we share the community’s passion for positive change. We’re also leading a programme of meanwhile use to ensure we make the most of vacant spaces as the long-term process of regeneration takes place. We supported Supersets in securing a new home for their set-building business on Thomas Lane; we helped Really Local Group imagine the possibilities for Catford Mews, a three-screen cinema; and we’re in discussion with some other exciting tenants for units in and around the Catford Shopping Centre.
